Lost & Found: Little Sadie

April 26, 2010
By Jane Rickard

Little dog lost.

Just look at that face, and those eyes. That is Sadie, a 9-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who has been missing from the 1800 block of Eddy Street, near Addison and Damen since April 6, 2010.  Her owners Nicole and Henry Brownwell are devastated at the loss of their pet. They have posted a no questions asked $1,000.00 reward for her return.

Sadie was last seen at home and apparently ran out of the house while a door was open during spring cleaning.  She may have run to a street and been picked up by a car where the sight of the well groomed, five-pound Yorkie would have attracted attention. At the time of her disappearance Sadie was wearing a nylon collar with two tags: one bronze tag in the shape of a bone with her owners telephone number and address. She also has been micro-chipped and the network has been activated to assist in her location. However, these chips are not GPS locator’s and will only help find her if she is taken to a veterinarian, kennel or a shelter where the chip can be read.

Physically Sadie is described by Ms. Brownwell as “black and tan and has a very small white patch of fur on her chest which blends in with the tan. She has a short snout, looks like an Ewok, from Star Wars.”  Sadie is described as affectionate, friendly and a bundle of energy. Sadie is on daily medications.

If you have any information, please call immediately, there is a family waiting to welcome this little ball of fluff home.

Sadly Sadie has  not come home yet, the Bromwells have not given up hope for her return.  Like most Yorkies Sadie needs regular dental attention at the vet and should be due for a cleaning in the near future.  It is their hope the vet will scan Sadie for a chip and her owners identity will be discovered.  As of this time it is not required for vets to scan for chips when a new animal is brought into their offices for the first time.  As chipping of pets becomes more popular it may be time to have a look at requiring clinics  to scan animals.

I followed Ms. Brownwells’ facebook page to your paper:
Thank you for helping this family search for their Sadie, this is like kidnapping for most pet lovers, and a piece of our heart is gone when our loved one is missing.
