The Welles Park Bulldog is frequently asked to cover issues outside its North Side area. We just say no.
So, it comes as no surprise that we were unaware of Former Ill. Rep. Bob Flider’s appointment by Ill. Gov. Pat Quinn to be Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Neither agriculture nor Flider ever really show up on our radar.
But wait…
State Republican Party Chair Pat Brady, however, connects Flider to our urban home by noting that Flider was one of the lame duck Democrats who voted for the 67 percent increase in state income taxes.
Another of those short term votes was cast by former Ill. Rep. Kathleen Moore. She only served two weeks in the legislature and managed to be a deciding vote on the income tax increase and the death penalty.
We don’t want to forget Ms. Moore’s brief but eventful service to our area.
Hence we note that Flider campaigned (and lost) on a promise to oppose the income tax increase. Then, as a lame duck, he voted for the increase.
Damn! If you aren’t a flip-flopping duck Mr. Flider.
Brady is asking people to write Cullerton asking him to hold the appointment of Flider to the Dept. of Agriculture.
