Japanese nuc plant explodes. What if it happened here?

March 12, 2011
By Patrick Boylan

The Bulldog will leave it to your imagination to contemplate a situation happening near Chicago like that which is happening in Japan.

We prepared a map of the locations of the 14 known and operational nuclear power plants in the 250 mile vicinity of Chicago on Google. In addition, we have the graphic below to compare the location of the accident with Tokyo and a map of radiation levels found near Chernobyl after the accident there in April 1986.

I have always been a opposed to the use of nuclear power. It is a good system when it is working well, however it there is a problem millions could be at risk and the damage lasts hundreds of years. Call me a tree hugger, there had to be a better way than coal and nukes. Time for wind and sun to start to carry the load as soon as possible.
