Lane, Area Schools Recognized With ISBE Awards

March 5, 2012
By Patrick Boylan

Lane Tech earned both a Spotlight School Awarda and an Academic Excellence Award from the Illinois State Board of Education, it was announced last week.

Lane was among 167 schools in Illinois honored with the Spotlight Award this year. Spotlight schools are those in which at least 85 percent of the students pass state achievement tests in both reading and math and at least half the students are classified as being from low-income families.

Lane was among just two high schools to receive the award this year.

Lane’s Academic Excellence Award memorializes three years of high academic performance. It was one of just 438 Illinois Schools to receive the AEA and one of just ten schools in the state to win both awards.

Chappell and Courtenay schools also received the Spotlight Award.

Blaine School also received an Academic Excellence Award.
