Alderman Silverstein Details Meeting With ComEd

July 16, 2011
By Michael Volpe

In light of the recent blackouts, 50th Ward Alderman Debra Silverstein held a townhall meeting. She gave the details,

“A particular blackout and brownout hotspot is sixteen blocks of Chase, Sherwin, and Jarvis. After lengthy conversations between the Alderman and ComEd, a community meeting was scheduled. ComEd sent three representatives to discuss the infrastructure of the electricity lines and the outages of the past three years. More than 60 residents attended the meeting and voiced their concerns directly to the service provider.

While many solutions, such as installing a lightning diffuser unit in the area were proposed, the Alderman’s office will continue to monitor the situation and follow up with ComEd. If your power does go out, please call 1-800-EDISON1 and follow up with the Alderman’s office”j
